How To Use Search Website For Buying Cheap Tickets
Yeah, flight tickets are a topic for hours but let’s try to keep it short. So how do you find the cheapest and most importantly the most reliable flights? If you want to know the answer, you are on the right place!!
Over the years of traveling we’ve tried a ton of search websites and even bought tickets from some brokers. Out of all this trial and error we are left with only one tried and true workable and reliable method. Wonder which one? Well we won’t keep you in suspense for long.
The secret is the search engine www.skyscanner.com.
IMPORTANT!: Right off the bat, however, we must also say that we NEVER buy tickets through this search engine, and we highly don’t recommend it to you either. We only search for tickets here and compare their prices.
Why is skyscanner.com so good?
You may ask, why is skyscanner better than another? We’re not saying the others aren’t good. However, in our years of travelling, skyscanner is the one we like best and we’ll tell you why below.
After you enter your desired parameters, skyscanner.com simply searches all airlines, various resellers and ticket resellers and shows you prices to your destination. You can also filter them and compare according to various parameters. You can even see which days are the cheapest when you click on the calendar.
For example: Do you want to fly overnight with one stepover that will only take 1 hour and you need to reach your destination in the afternoon? Just type it into skyscanner.com and it will take care of it.
But there is much more!
You’ll also find a map where you can find out the current conditions of entry to the country in question.
Ok… This came in very handy, especially during covid-19 travel, but you never know what will happen and even so, there is info on needed vaccinations and such. Is it better to have everything on one page or am I wrong?
And it is still not everything yet!!
The biggest advantage of this search website is the price monitoring. What is it and why is it so good?
Well.. it’s easy! Once you sign up, you simply select the destination you want to track and Skyscanner will send you an email as soon as the price of flights to your destination changes. Isn’t it amazing?
Never buy a flight tickets on the search websites!
Let’s move on to the stage where we have found tickets in the search engine that we are satisfied with in all respects.
DON’T BUY IT YET!! Just go to the airline’s website and buy your tickets directly from them.
NOTE: Why directly with the airline and not with a broker? It’s simple, because not only of communication and solving any problems, but also flight changes, ordering additional services, etc. It is usually impossible to communicate with intermediaries. We know that their prices look tempting, but believe that the fees for example for paying by card, adding luggage or ordering food will be so high that you will pay much more money than if you buy everything directly from the airline.
Did you know that? So, please, our friends, put kiwi.com, mytrip.com, opodo.com and similar sites out of your mind.
NEVER use these retailers or any others, always buy your tickets directly from the airlines who set the prices.
TIP!: The Airlines very often do promotions on tickets. As soon as a promotion comes up, don’t wait for anything and buy the ticket. In most cases the first sale price is only available for a few hours.
You may be thinking that there’s already been enough information about buying tickets and we’re at the end. But there’s one more thing you should pay attention to when buying tickets.
As has been noted, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the surrounding departure days. Because a day before or after could be much more cheaper.
Finally what is the last but not least tip? We really do this every time we search for flights!
Well… It’s worth keeping an eye on prices from nearby countries not just the nearest airport. This can indeed on where you live or where you are travelling from, but still keep the eye.
NOTE: For example, if you are from the Czech Republic, return tickets to the Dominican Republic will cost you 1060 USD from Prague at the moment. BUT from Munich, Germany (a neighbouring country), it’s only 530 USD. It’s worth taking a bus to Munich for 15 USD, don’t you think?
Of course, you have to watch the ticket prices for a while, but after all believe us it’s worth it.
NOTE: For example we managed to fly from Zanzibar to Vienna with Qatar Airways for 127 USD. We flew from Vienna to Corfu and back for 11 USD and from Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City for 4,3 USD. And really it was a standard offer with purchase directly from the airline :-).
Recently, a very good and also used by us is the search engine from google itself. Google Flights can be used to search for suitable flights and also to monitor changes in ticket prices. However, in this case too, do not buy tickets from third parties but always and only directly from the airline website.
Summary!
Well..We’re at the end of our flight buying tips, so let’s recap!
- Never buy tickets through third parties!
- Only use web-based flight search engines to find suitable flights and monitor prices!
- Always buy your tickets directly from the airline itself!
- Also look at nearby dates and airports, prices are often cheaper than you think.
