Is Travelling To An Exotic Country Really Expensive?

The Caribbean, the Maldives, Costa Rica, etc. For Europeans these are all exotic countries that evoke a sense of luxury and expensive travel. But is it really so?

Is choice of destination really important?

Before we talk about how it actually is with prices in exotic countries, it is worth mentioning this. The choice of destination is one of the most important parts when you decided to travel. If you have a dream destination you want to visit, you’ve won. If you’re still deciding and you kind of don’t care where you’re going to travel, you might consider these tips. 

What is more expensive – Europe or Exotic countries?

A lot of people think that traveling to an exotic country or another continent is guaranteed to be expensive. At this point it is important to remember where do you live and if your continent is expensive or not. For example, we are from Europe which is a pretty expensive continent. Just try to calculate 12 days of holiday in Croatia. You have to go there, book accommodation in a tourist town, have dinner in a restaurant with a sea view etc…

And now, let’s calculate together for example a trip to Vietnam. You buy a ticket for 530 USD and accommodation will cost you 15,5 USD per night. You can eat on the street for 2,2 USD and rent a motorbike for 4,5 USD per day. Or for example a trip to Peru when you will pay 795 USD for a flight ticket. It’s maybe a lot of money. BUT! You will stay in rooms for 13,5 USD with breakfast, you can take a bus across the country for a few crowns. And I’m not mentioning the local great and cheap cuisine.

Do you see where we’re going with this? There’s simply no need to limit yourself.

Believe us, for example a weekend in Rome will cost the same money as a week in Morocco. Based on our experience, a 10-day visit to Ibiza in 2013 cost exactly the same amount as three weeks in the Philippines with two days in Shanghai.

Don’t limit yourself in your choice of destination. You can travel cheaply anywhere in the world, just like we do. 

P.S.: I’m sure you’ve seen those insta pics of the 50th floor pool somewhere, like in Kuala Lumpur. Every time we travel to our beloved Malaysia, we don’t stay anywhere else but in one of these apartments with a roof pool. And how much does it cost us? The last one cost us only 53 USD for two per night. How amazing! 

So is it expensive to travel to an exotic country? The answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT!
